Protect Your Engine with Proper Temperature Regulation

The thermostat in your 2023 Ford Mustang regulates coolant flow, helping your engine warm up quickly and stay at the optimal operating temperature. A failing thermostat can lead to engine overheating, slow warm-up, poor heater performance, and reduced efficiency.

These OEM-quality replacement thermostats are engineered for perfect fit and factory-calibrated function across all Mustang trims—from the EcoBoost to the GT500. Whether you're daily driving or tracking your car, a properly functioning thermostat is key to performance and longevity.

How to Replace a Thermostat on a 2023 Mustang

Tools Required:

✔ Socket and ratchet set

✔ Torque wrench

✔ Drain pan

✔ Gasket scraper

✔ Coolant funnel

✔ Ford-approved coolant

✔ New thermostat and seal

Installation Steps:

  1. Drain the Coolant into a clean pan from the radiator drain valve.

  2. Locate the Thermostat Housing, usually where the lower radiator hose meets the engine.

  3. Remove the Bolts and Old Thermostat, being careful of coolant spillage.

  4. Clean Mating Surfaces to ensure a proper seal.

  5. Install the New Thermostat, making sure it’s oriented correctly.

  6. Reattach the Housing, torque bolts to spec, and refill coolant.

  7. Bleed the Cooling System, checking for leaks and proper warm-up behavior.

Pro Tip: Always use the correct Ford-approved coolant (orange or yellow) based on your engine and owner's manual.
